Opal

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it.

Ah I had to read this book twice and the last 15 pages like 4 times. Why? Because it was heartbreaking. I loved Daemon in Obsidian and Onyx but there was just something about the way he was with Katy and how he treated her. I know a lot of people were like “Just say it back to her!” But I felt he did more than enough to show how much he cared about her. You know what they say ‘actions speak louder then words’. Well I believe that. This book picked up exactly where Onyx ended. Which left me with anger issues toward Blake.

Okay I totally wanted to punch him in the face multiple times because lets face it. He had quite a few moments of crazy showing through. Like showing back up at school like he didn’t kill anyone. I won’t say who in case you haven’t read Onyx. Now back to Katy, wow did she have to go through so much in this book. She had to deal with the fallout of what happened with Will, had to deal with another hybrid like her that was close to her but not stable, she had to deal with losing her best friend, Dee because of decisions she made, she had to come to terms with her relationship with Daemon. Honestly I thought she grew up quite a bit in the book and I loved how much stronger as a character she is now and how I know that she will be even better in the next book.

Now the ending, oh god the ending. I think I cried EVERY SINGLE TIME I read it. To get so close to getting what they were trying for and then to get stuck behind like that? And Daemon fighting everyone to get to her? Yea and not to mention what he said to her right before the door closed. For the first time ever. I almost want the next book to be in both their POV’s only to see what happens to each one and how the cope with that knowledge. I don’t want to give to much away because this series is COMPLETELY worth the read, there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to get my hands on Origin when the ARC’s come out. This summer can’t come fast enough for me to read that book.

RATING:

StarStarStarStarStarStar—Extra star for the amazingness that this book is.

Why I am waiting on it?

I don’t think you understand how much I really love JLA. Hands down she is one of my favorites. I literally own either in paperback or in ePub version of every book she has out, including her adult books. It does help that Daemon Black is completely swoonworthy, and Pepe (the cover model, if you didn’t know that) is just as swoonworthy in person. So OF COURSE I can’t wait to read this book. Plus at the ending of Onyx, I NEED to know what happens next!

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.

Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies. From Goodreads.

Oh Jennifer how I love your books so so much!!!! Thank you for becoming a writer and Entangled Publishing for signing her! Wow do I love the love/hate relationship between Katy and Daemon. I love her snarkiness towards him because now that they have the connection it seems like he wants her only because they are connected.

Daemon is still ridiculously hot and he has his amazing ability still to get under Katy’s skin, which is really hot in an annoying way. Meanwhile Katy decides to try and date another guy. Daemon decides it is not a good idea and basically is always around to ruin her dates. I could see why he would do that, he really does want her because of her.

Eventually she figures that out about the same time she realizes that she has been lied to. I know most people would hate that the guy that they have been seeing lied to them, but at the same time she wasn’t completely honest about the way she felt about Daemon.

I don’t want to give away too much but I do have to say that once again, I love Jennifer’s books sooo much. I was very happy that I got an ARC from her book signing in West Palm Beach. This was also the first ARC that I have ever gotten so you can see why I was excited.

I give this book 6 out of 5 stars!!!!

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
From Goodreads.

I haven’t done a review for Jennifer’s books yet, but I have fallen madly in love with the books that are out of hers. In this book Kat is spunky and a book lover too! So I felt I could relate with her more than most female characters. Plus I wouldn’t let a guy talk to me the way Daemon did to her either. No matter how hot he is.

The whole story was amazing. Honestly, there are few authors that I absolutely love and Jennifer just so happens to be one of them. I felt that the story flowed very well; there wasn’t a point in the book that I was like ‘Come on with the story already’ which I was surprised. This is the first alien story I read and I was hooked.

Daemon and Katy have a very hot passionate relationship. Sometimes Katy wants to smack him in the face and other times she wants to make out with him. I loved that about them, I wasn’t sure how Daemon felt about Katy really until the end of the book, which I liked because it wasn’t instant love. More like lust but that’s better. Instant lust is more relatable.

The other characters in the book were funny too. There was Dee, Daemon’s twin, who seemed so vulnerable and she is very lovable. I just wanted her to be able to do whatever she wanted just so she wouldn’t be sad anymore. Her regular friends were just so funny, especially about Daemon. But I couldn’t blame them, he is gorgeous so it makes sense that they would leave her to hang when he starts talking to her.

I love this series so very much, it is unbelievable. I give this book 6 out of 5 stars because it was that awesome!
