What a Boy Needs by Nyrae Dawn (What A Boy Wants #2)

A companion novel to WHAT A BOY WANTS.

Jaden Sinclair knows he’ll never amount to anything…so why would he deserve a girl like Priscilla Mendoza?

Since last summer, things have been screwed up between Jaden and Pris. He knows it’s his fault, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to go a few rounds with her new boyfriend. He also knows he’s the loser his dad calls him, but it doesn’t stop him from wanting her.

After getting a huge bomb dropped on him, Jaden lashes out and lands himself in jail. Everything in his chaotic life is turned upside down and to make it worse, his mom kicks him out in order to side with his dad. Yeah, he’s totally a prize for a girl like Pris.

Sebastian, Aspen, and Pris are all going places in their lives…and he knows he can’t keep tagging along for the ride.

The group has one last chance for The Epic Adventure they’ve been looking for: a road trip to New York, where Jaden’s friends will be going to college. Unfortunately, the more time Jaden hangs around Pris, the harder it is to keep the carefully constructed walls between them so she doesn’t find out what a train wreck he really is.

When the trip ends, Jaden has to decide if he’s ready to say goodbye to his friends, and the girl he loves. He knows what he needs, but will he be man enough to go for it?

Contains mature themes. Some sexual situations and language. From Goodreads.

I almost want there to be a third book about what happens after this book ended. Just because I loved these characters so much. Jaden, Pris, Aspen and Sebastian, were amazing friends to each other and more.

This book was about Jaden and his discovery of not only who he is but why he is worthy of being someone. There were so many moments that I loved Jaden for but there were other moments that I wanted to hit him harder than I wanted to hit Sebastian in the first book. I honestly thought about throwing my Nook Color across the room because how he thought of himself and how he refused to let anyone help him.

No matter what though they all loved him and wanted to make sure that he would be okay. They were not happy to find out that Jaden was disbanding their group and moving to Texas to stay with his uncle. I couldn’t believe he would do that to Sebastian but not only him but Pris. I wanted them to fall in love and stay together forever.

On the road trip that they talked him into going on still, he learned that he was a better person than he knew or was told his whole life. Before he left, he found out that the dad he always thought was his ended up not being his dad at all. When that happened something broke inside of him and he couldn’t understand why his mom would allow some stranger to talk to him so badly his whole life.

The book was amazing, I don’t want to give too much away but the characters themselves are worth reading the book. They remind me of my best friends, we would do anything for each other no matter what. There were secrets that were eventually told; Jaden let someone in on everything. It was a great book and I already kind of miss the characters.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

What A Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn

What A Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn (What a Boy Wants #1)

Courtesy of watching his mom’s relationships, Sebastian Hawkins knows what girls need to do to get a guy. He has what he considers a PHD in hooking up. When he needs extra cash for a car, Sebastian starts up an online venture as The Hook-up Doctor, to anonymously help girls land the guy of their dreams. Of course, his services don’t offer a happily-ever-after guarantee. He’s seen firsthand getting together never means staying together.

And then he falls in love…

With the last girl he would expect…

Totally not in his game plan.

Suddenly, Sebastian finds himself muddled in the game he’s always prided himself on. He can’t even pick up girls at parties anymore! Why would anyone want to be in love when it turns you into a stuttering, screwed-up, mess with really lame stalker tendencies? Stalking? Totally not his gig.

But the Hook-up Doctor won’t let himself go down easily. He’s always known how to give a girl what she wants and now it’s time to figure out what a boy wants… and he definitely plans on getting it. From Goodreads.

This book was amazing. I don’t normally read books that are solely from a guy’s POV but I loved it. It showed that they care as much as girls do. When I started reading this book on my Nook I couldn’t put it down and I was really upset that it took me this long to read it.

Sebastian is one of those guys that you love to hate and then you just love. He is super cocky about everything that has to do with himself. But he shows that he cares about his friends more than anything. He doesn’t put up with girls talking bad about his 2 female besties, Aspen and Priscilla, or better known as Woodstock and Pris.

He also has Jaden as his wingman to help in situations with dads or at parties. Jaden is always there for Sebastian, he drives him to school and everything. The only thing is that no one knows about his Hook-Up Doctor gig that he does.

He eventually realizes that he is in love with Aspen when he does realize it, it is awesome. They make an amazing couple and I felt like it was about time that they got together. Not every guy would drink soy milk for a girl. But when he gets a phone call after an amazing weekend away for Pris’ birthday it goes to hell.

I honestly wanted to smack him but I got it, he was afraid. I get it, falling in love and allowing someone to have a part of you that you never gave away before is scary. You don’t know the future, it could ruin your friendship that you have, trust me I get it. I was just smart enough to let all that go and eventually so was Sebastian. The difference is I was older so he learned the lesson a lot earlier then I did when I was a teen.

There wasn’t a moment that I didn’t love this book, there were moments that were funny and moments that made me cry a little. I was really happy that I saw it on my recommended to read from Barnes and Noble.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
